An open letter
Here we go again!
Firstly thank you to everyone who has visited us over the past few months, and the past few days in particular. Your support has been touching and we really are looking forward to being back open as soon as we are allowed to.
Sometimes, this year has felt a bit surreal - it really has been whirlwind. We’ve closed and opened more times than we ever thought, bought more sanitiser in three months than we ever thought we would and heard the word “COVID” being used more times than we care to imagine - it wasn’t even in our vocabulary this time last year! But we’ve kept smiling as best we can, even with our face masks on!
We’re really disappointed to be closed again, but we’re hopeful that this circuit breaker gives the country chance to re-set and above all else hope you look after yourselves, your friends, family and our incredible community. In the meantime, we will be having a busy month getting ‘Christmas ready’ at the pub… amongst other things.
We plan to re-open in December
We’re planning to re-open on Thursday 3rd December with bells, (metaphorical) whistles and festive cheer. This will be our very first Christmas in the pub and we’re planning on making it a great one. So I’d encourage you to book your table as soon as you can so you can join in our celebrations - we’ll have a lot to catch up on!
Planning for Christmas
We’ll be sharing our Christmas plans soon, so do look out for that, as well as a sneak peak of our festive menu. As Boris said, it might look a little different this year, but we’ll be serving great roast turkey every day, have plenty of baubles on our tree and enough mulled wine to sink a battleship - so do join us and join in with our festive fun!
Whilst we won’t be open for November we are committed to helping our community in every way we can. Lockdown for some will be really hard and so we’ll continue to cook fresh meals for COVID-19 Support Group in Kenilworth. We know a lot of you have wanted to support this - so if you do want to make a donation to help those that have been most affected by this, then please do drop us a line and if you need help do get in touch with the support group.
Play Kenilworth's 'Oldest Pub' Quiz on Facebook
Our General Manager and quiz master in a top hat, Andy, is determined to keep Kenilworth’s
‘Oldest Pub’ Quiz going throughout November and so we’ll be back on Facebook every Tuesday night at 7:30pm. Make sure you check-in with your team mates and pit your wits against Kenilworth’s finest (and people joining us around the world) and win some great prizes too! It promises to be great revision before our trio of Christmas quizzes and our ‘Famous Family Quiz of the Year’ at the end of December.
Above all, look after yourselves in the next few weeks, stay safe, stay healthy and stay in touch with others and we’ll look forward to sharing a drink or two with you as soon as we can.
Take care, very best wishes and we look forward to seeing you all soon,
Virgins & Castle
