Re-opening your pub safely

A warm and friendly welcome

We're famous for looking after our guests at the Virgins & Castle and now more than ever we want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and safe every time you visit your local pub.

It goes without saying that we ran a pretty tight ship anyway and so many of the cleaning and hygiene practices we did already. But for your peace of mind we're just explaining things in a little more detail.  That way you can enjoy a drink and bite to eat knowing that every time you visit the Virgins & Castle you can sit back and let us look after you.

Keeping everyone safe

Things are going to feel a bit different as we adjust to life after COVID-19, but we're closely following Government guidelines to ensure we keep all of our team and customer's safe.

We'll be following social distancing measures and keeping our capacity of guests to a manageable level.  From Monday 12th April, we are able to host tables outside only.  Each table will only be permitted to be booked to a maximum of six guests from two households.  You can book your table in advance here on our website as space will be limited.

Making ordering easy

We want your visit to the pub to be as an enjoyable as possible.  Whether you're popping in for a pint after work, having some lunch with friends, or celebrating an occasion with dinner our team are on-hand to look after you.

We'll be managing our guest capacity so would advise booking a table in advance.  We won't be serving from the bar, but we will provide full table service for all guests. We'll be using single use menus on recycled paper, but if you'd like to look at our menu digitally on your phone or tablet you can visit our menu pages.

We've gone cash free.

Pay contactless or card

You can order food and drink from your table and our hosts are on hand to help you with any menu queries.  Our menu is available to view on our menu pages and you can keep up to date with offers and menus on our Facebook page.

When your order is placed, our team will bring it to your table and you can also pay by contactless or with card - making the whole process nice and easy.  The hardest thing will be what to choose!

Team and cleaning

There'll be a lot going on behind the scenes to ensure that the pub is safe for our team to work in and for our customers to enjoy their visit.  You're unlikely to notice these things, but it's good to know that we're thinking about every aspect of how we operate a safe environment.

  1. Our team will have to follow rigorous health & hygiene checks

  2. We will carry out temperature checks prior to each shift.

  3. There will be regular cleaning across the pub

  4. We will be staggering shift times and working in sub teams to allow for isolation if needed

Wearing a face mask

When you visit the pub we'll be asking all guests to wear a face mask before entering (unless exempt).  Our team will be wearing face masks throughout service and in all spaces in the pub, but when you take your seat, you'll be free to remove your face mask.

This is something we have to do and we're adhering to government guidelines to keep us all safe.  It'll be strange, you can't see our smiley faces, and we'll be a little muffled, but we'll make sure you're comfortable and served in the same hospitable and welcoming way that you've come to expect from us.

Signage and more information

When you visit the Virgins & Castle, you'll notice that we've got clear signage both inside and outside guiding you through from where to enter and exit the pub.

We'll have hand sanitiser in the pub's various rooms and snugs and in the toilets and our team will be wearing gloves for additional protection.

As ever our team is on-hand if you have any queries or concerns and for a full list and detail you can read our full document of our measures to mitigate risk.
